The Role

As the Coastal Erosion Advice Project Officer you’ll be responsible for helping Melbourne Water build its capacity to provide coastal erosion information to enable us to better understand and advise on current and future risks.

This role will develop and manage a pilot to test and refine the approach to providing coastal erosion advice in the Greater Melbourne area, and will lay the foundations for a state-wide approach.  It will include evolving our technical capability and integrating it with other coastal hazard assessments and flood management processes.

Working across Melbourne Water to develop systems and processes, you will have a commitment to working collaboratively with experts from a range of disciplines. This formative work will help inform decisions that will minimise current and future impacts from coastal erosion.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Ability to achieve outcomes in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Knowledge  and experience of coastal or floodplain management, Victoria’s statutory planning framework, geomorphology and/or coastal processes
  • Project management/ program design experience
  • Policy development experience
  • Clearly and confidently communicates with people at all levels.

Your ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is required together with a tertiary qualification in a related field.
