The Role

Reporting to the Senior Corporate Management Accountant, the Management Accountant is primarily responsible for the delivery of all month-end reporting and analysis requirements for Melbourne Water ensuring all data contained in the financial systems are accurate. The remainder of the role will involve providing financial support to the Business Performance and Analytics Team.

This will be achieved through:

  • Delivery of high-quality management reporting and financial support.
  • Providing ongoing financial education to key stakeholders across the business to improve commercial capability in the organisation.
  • Developing effective working relationships with the Finance Business Partners to successfully identify and understand the drivers of business and operational performance.
  • Providing other support as required by the Senior Corporate Management Accountant, Finance Business Partners and the rest of the Finance team.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a Management Accounting role.
  • CPA/CA qualified or finalist.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Technology One experience (preferred).
  • Analytical and problem solving mindset,
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines for tasks such as Month-end deliverables.
  • Business Acumen along with sound understanding and application of financial policies, guidelines and internal control procedures, which affect the activities being performed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high level of customer service when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated initiative to action process improvements and possesses a continuous improvement mindset.

Your high level of flexibility, ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity, and enthusiasm to work within a challenging and changing environment will be keys to this role.
