Reporting to the Manager – Flood Hydrology and Environmental Monitoring this role will undertake analytical, observational, and supervisory tasks with autonomy, encompassing office and field-based activities. Responsibilities include ensuring continuous availability of high-quality data from the hydrgraphic network for informed business decision making, managing hydrographic services contracts, initiating improvement projects, troubleshooting network issues, and overseeing project delivery. Additionally, the role involves in-field safety checks, flood operations responsibilities including forecasting, and active participation in health and safety initiatives for oneself and colleagues. Salary MW EA Level 7 starting at $105,603 plus superannuation.

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.
Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck. The role of Hydrology Specialist is deemed critical and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
