About The Role

Major Capital Delivery team delivers capital program of works for Melbourne Water which includes asset upgrades, renewals of the aging infrastructure and building new structures to support our core services related to water supply, sewerage treatment and transfer, drainage as well as flood protection.

Our projects are multidisciplinary in nature and quite complex. We utilise a variety of delivery models to make sure we deliver value for money to our customers.

We are now hiring for two Program Managers (Medium Risk Capital) within Major Capital Delivery, you'll be based at our offices in Docklands, and will work closely with the Portfolio Manager to execute strategies, ensuring safe delivery of capital projects. You'll also provide leadership and development for project engineers/managers.

  • Formulate contract delivery strategies and directly oversee tender processes. Manage project tendering, evaluation, and award determination with meticulous attention.
  • Lead the coordination of internal and external stakeholders throughout project life-cycles, from tender through construction, commissioning, and handover stages.
  • Collaborate closely with principal contractors to ensure construction sites are safe and operations run efficiently according to the delivery program.
  • Proactively monitor construction project risks, including finance and schedules, and provide timely reports to stakeholders as needed.
  • Leadership/management of up to 5 people, showcasing professional mindset and behaviour, fostering a culture aligned with company values.
  • Exhibit maturity and judgement in contributing to complex decision-making, coupled with high energy to drive impactful business outcomes.

About You

  • Possess tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience showcasing proficiency in large capital program delivery.
  • Leadership experience with ability to influence across Melbourne Water teams
  • Significant experience in managing a team of project managers to achieve desired outcomes and goals
  • Strong project management skills, including change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in design, construction, and project management of large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated experience across the entire project lifecycle, encompassing initiation, planning, execution, and closure.
  • Familiarity with governance matters and adeptness in understanding and leading them.
  • Willing to complete an Auscheck (this role is deemed critical according to the SoCI Act – please read information below)
  • Victorian Drivers Licence required

Important Information

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.

Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck. The role of Program Manager (Medium Risk Capital) is deemed critical and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
