The Role

We are seeking either a Civil Engineer to work across our Dams & Headworks and Sewerage Transfer portfolios, or a Process or Mechanical Engineer to work across our Water Treatment portfolio. The role would see you working as part of a small team with responsibility across the entire Water and Sewerage asset base, and offers an excellent opportunity to add value and build a broad base of knowledge across Melbourne Water’s key assets.

This full time role will be based from our 990 La Trobe Street office, and working from home, with some travel to operational sites. You will be working in a team of highly motivated asset managers, where you will be responsible for planning and driving prudent and efficient asset management outcomes. A key requirement is an ability to understand the longer-term strategies of the water and sewerage systems, as well as the risk appetite of the business, to ensure our decisions are incrementally moving the business towards its goals.

You will provide technical leadership, co-ordination and oversight of a portfolio(s) in collaboration with the broader business, and your engineering experience will see you succeed within the role.

The full time salary ranges from $116,690 to $123,111 per annum inclusive of superannuation, depending on experience.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to prioritise and perform complex technical work with limited supervision and exercise judgement.
  • Knowledge and proven application of asset management processes and risk assessment techniques related to large scale infrastructure management.
  • Advanced judgement, and decision-making which is objective, evidence-based and applies integrated thinking to deliver best ‘whole-of-system’ outcomes.
  • Knowledge and proven experience in Whole of Life Asset Management and large scale infrastructure planning.
  • Demonstrable ability to engage and lead engineering consultants, including developing briefs, assessing proposals, communicating expectations, and providing technical oversight and project management.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight in relation to complex works, projects and programs
  • Awareness of complex and large scale engineering project implementation, construction and delivery activities.
  • Proven history of working as a collaborative team member and working in a constructive culture to achieve customer centric outcomes.

Your ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is required together with a tertiary qualification in Engineering.
