Who we are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra—we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home —just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About the Role

Reporting to the Design and Estimation Lead, this is a pivotal role within the Minor Capital Team. As the Capital Delivery Estimator you will be responsible for taking projects from concept to construction ready (scoping / estimation, design management, commercial / procurement strategy, and risk management of a program of projects).  Managing up to 30 projects at a time generally ranging from $200k-$2M. This hands on role gives you the opportunity to get out on site during the development of projects in a range of locations from urbans areas to pristine forested catchments. A key part of this role is working with various internal Melbourne Water teams as well as external agencies and service providers to develop projects that achieve safe, high quality and cost effective outcomes.

In the role you will have the chance to develop projects in a variety of fields – some examples include civil (concrete structures, steel fabrication, waterway stabilisation works, fishways, underground drainage/ pipework, excavation and earthworks, gravel and asphalt roading and pipe valves) and environmental works (weed control, revegetation, vegetation and fauna assessments and feral animal control).

This full time role is based from our North East Regional Office in Croydon or South East Regional Office in Bangholme. The role will require you attend various Melbourne Water sites mainly in the East and South of Greater Melbourne. An operational vehicle is included with the role.
