About the Role

In this 12-month opportunity, the Customer and Community Engagement Lead will be accountable to the Senior Manager, Price Submission Engagement for finalising the design and leading the delivery of the Customer and Broader Community engagement stream, and the Water Sector engagement stream for Melbourne Water's Price Submission Engagement program.

  • Oversee and lead the delivery of the strategic Communications and Engagement plans, informed by customer insights and research, for the Customer and Community and Water Sector streams, and aligned to the master Price Submission engagement program.
  • Oversee the delivery of the deliberative engagement program including management of external consultants to deliver a deliberative panel, coordinate panel forums and other key workshops
  • Deliver innovative digital engagement solutions to promote and support engagement and involvement of the Price Submission program with water sector, customers and community
  • Provide strategic engagement advice to senior leaders and subject matter experts across the business
  • ensure the seamless delivery of the Customer and Broader Community and Water Sector engagement streams with other key engagement streams e.g. a Traditional Owner Engagement Plan and an Internal communications and engagement plan
  • Develop supporting materials to deliver the strategic communication and engagement plan such as collateral.

About you:

  • Excellent knowledge of strategic communications and engagement planning in theory and practice (preferably in a local authority or government department or agency)
  • Demonstrated understanding of deliberative engagement approaches
  • Understanding of the Essential Services Commission’s PREMO model for water authorities’ Price Submission
  • Exceptional social awareness and ability to quickly and creatively redesign engagement activities to meet community expectations.
  • Experienced in online engagement techniques, social media and digital content creation.
  • High level of project management skills with proven ability in setting priorities, meeting deadlines, managing budgets and keeping accurate records to enable project reporting.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (and ideally with a post-graduate qualification or professional development qualifications) alongside experience working across the IAP2 spectrum
