About The Role

Ready to take your dam expertise to the next level? We’re looking for a passionate and driven Dams Specialist to join our dynamic Service Enablement Headworks Team in a full-time, permanent role where your impact truly flows through the heart of our community.

Reporting directly to the Manager Service Enablement Headworks, you’ll be the go-to expert in managing and enhancing the safety and performance of our iconic portfolio of dams and headworks assets across our Water and Drainage systems.

Your mission? To lead smart, efficient asset management through innovative condition monitoring, strategic maintenance planning, and exciting project development either from a civil or mechanical engineering perspective.

  • Undertake intermediate and comprehensive dam safety inspections and continuously monitor and respond to anomalies in dam surveillance data and field reports.
  • Provide dam safety subject matter expertise across the business including on major capital projects and dam safety reviews.
  • Carry out assigned Asset Management tasks in line with Asset Management processes and procedures including but not limited to maintenance strategy determination, condition monitoring of assets, responding to technical queries, root cause analysis, register assets in Maximo.
  • Initiate and develop business cases for capital projects in line with Melbourne Water’s capital management system
  • Build and maintain positive customer and stakeholder relationships including providing technical advice to Service Delivery. (Operations and Maintenance) in a collaborative way.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with a general understanding of the water and sewerage system.
  • Highly developed understanding and experience in dam safety management and dams engineering as well as the application of regulatory and industry good practice (ie ANCOLD Guidelines) in the management of dam safety risk.
  • Experience in risk-based lifecycle management of water industry assets or equivalent industry/infrastructure including condition monitoring of assets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills together with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to prioritise and perform complex professional/technical work with general supervision and exercise professional/technical judgement.
  • Ability to influence decision making and provide guidance.
  • Active engineering registration in a related discipline (i.e. civil/mechanical) relevant to the position is required.
  • Victorian Driver Licence is essential.
