Who We Are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About The Role

You’ll be responsible for helping us get real value from our projects by putting best-practice systems, processes and procurement approaches in place. You’ll also oversee the delivery of a portfolio of projects, making sure they’re completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality and business standards.

If you enjoy working across teams, improving how things get done, and seeing projects through from start to finish, this is a great opportunity to get involved in meaningful work that has lasting impact.

More about the role:

  • Supporting and in some cases leading development of treatment projects with major risk implications for Melbourne Water, involving multi-disciplinary teams and both internal and external resources.

  • Management of project risks and escalation to steering committee and sponsor as required.
  • Support the business in treatment plant related risk assessments, research, queries or audits.
  • Provide technical support to Service Delivery (Operational and Maintenance teams) as required.

About You

  • Tertiary degree in relevant engineering or discipline field (e.g. process or mechanical) or experience in relatable area.
  • Proficiency in process engineering acquired through experience in planning and design of wastewater treatment processes and a sound understanding of the science underpinning drinking wastewater treatment, including chemical, physical and biological processes.
  • Knowledge of the associated wastewater and recycled water regulatory environment and guidelines.
