About the Role

Seize the chance to play a major role in the transformation of our Sewerage System to align with future needs and expectations of Melbournians, including net zero, resource recovery, and adaptation to climate change. We’re seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the development and implementation of long-term, adaptive plans for Melbourne’s sewerage services. Reporting to the Manager Strategic Sewerage Planning, this fixed term role is a thrilling opportunity to bring the vision and goals of the Melbourne Sewerage Strategy to life, to ensure it continues to enhance human health and wellbeing, enhance the environment and leverage valuable resources. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering 5–50+ year sewerage service strategies and plans.
  • Identifying and evaluating risks and opportunities including environmental impacts, climate change, population growth, and resource recovery.
  • Supporting concept designs, trials, and business cases for future infrastructure and operational initiatives.
  • Providing evidence-based advice to internal and external stakeholders, including executive and board-level audiences.
  • Building strategic relationships and managing external consultants and contractors.

You’re a forward-thinking and self-driven engineer with a passion for sustainable infrastructure and navigating challenges. You thrive in supporting decision making within complex, uncertain environments and enjoy influencing long-term outcomes. You bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering.
  • Expertise in sewerage systems and sewage treatment practices.
  • Strong strategic thinking and adaptive planning capabilities.
  • Understanding of trends in local and international sewerage system regulation and policy to inform planning.
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence.
