Who We Are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Information Compliance Lead to take ownership of our Information Management and Data Governance Framework. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of standards and procedures that guide the full information lifecycle, from creation and access to retention and disposal.

This includes ongoing monitoring, risk assessments for new and existing technologies, and embedding compliance expectations within platforms and processes.

This role will work closely with the Specialist Data Governance and Specialist Information Compliance teams, providing support and collaboration across key initiatives. A core focus will be engaging the business on AI Governance, helping to ensure responsible and compliant adoption of AI technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of data governance standards and lifecycle management practices.

  • Overseeing security considerations, including permission models for information sharing and third-party management.
  • Ensuring compliance protocols are integrated into systems and processes in line with PROV and OVIC requirements.

This is a full time, fixed term contract role up until 27th November 2026, based from our Docklands Head office.

About You

  • Qualification within the field of Information Compliance/Management and extensive industry experience
  • Extensive experience in managing information and ensuring compliance with appropriate legislation (Records Act, PROV, OVIC etc.)
