Who We Are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About The Role

A 6-month contract, reporting to the Manager Logistics, as a hand’s-on people leader you’ll lead 2 direct reports to deliver a consistent, centralised facilities service. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day building maintenance, plan and deliver minor capital refurbishments and office asset renewals, and make sure we meet Essential Safety Measures (ESM) and building compliance obligations under the Victorian Building Regulations 2018, NCC and BCA. You’ll also monitor budgets and drive continuous improvement and customer service.

You will:

  • Champion strong customer focused outcomes and build strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective services including maintenance and minor capital.
  • Ensure the facilities function of the maintenance program by the service provider is integrated, enhanced, balanced and continuously improved to deliver the best outcome for operations, customers and key stakeholders
  • Organise and prioritise with customers and stakeholders to achieve service delivery objectives and facilitate safe operation of facilities
  • Triage service requests, set clear priorities with the team and drive exceptional performance across our sites.
  • Standardise processes, embed leading practice in works management and strengthen stakeholder relationships.

About You

You’re an experienced facilities professional who balances people, risk and results. You can spot what a building needs, plan the work, and bring contractors and colleagues with you. You stay calm when priorities shift, communicate clearly and set the tone for safety and service.

 You’ll bring:

  • Solid operational facilities management experience, including ESM and building compliance, plus working knowledge of Victorian codes and standards (NCC/BCA).
  • A track record delivering minor works/projects, with sound judgement on safety, quality, environmental and commercial risks.
  • Strong stakeholder and contractor management, with confident negotiation and customer focus.
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities while meeting agreed service levels.
  • Experience with Maximo, MS Office and other asset information systems.
