About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Flood Mitigation Engagement Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering community and stakeholder engagement for a high profile flood mitigation program. This 6-month opportunity is ideal for a strategic engagement professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys turning insight into action.

In this role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of targeted communications and engagement activities, working closely with consultants, internal technical teams and key external stakeholders including local government, emergency services and community groups. You’ll build strong relationships, contribute strategic advice across multiple engagement streams, and champion customer and community voices at every stage of the program.

You’ll bring strong experience across the IAP2 spectrum, confidence operating in politically sensitive environments, and the ability to adapt engagement approaches to meet diverse community expectations.

  • Lead the design, coordination and delivery of flood mitigation communication and community engagement plans, ensuring key activities and milestones are achieved across the program.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders (including local government, VicSES, community groups and internal technical teams), while managing and guiding consultants and advisors to deliver high quality outcomes.
  • Provide strategic engagement expertise across related programs, champion customer and community voices, and ensure engagement approaches are inclusive, responsive and aligned with broader organisational objectives.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have a:

  • Strong capability to design, lead and deliver complex community and stakeholder engagement programs, from strategy through to execution.
  • Demonstrated experience working across the IAP2 spectrum, including deliberative and consultative engagement approaches.
  • Ability to provide strategic engagement advice and integrate engagement activity across multiple programs and communication streams.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, local government, emergency services, advocacy groups and community representatives.
  • Strong customer centric mindset with a clear commitment to ensuring community voices are heard and reflected in engagement design.
