About the Role

The Education & Events Lead is a pivotal role in turning Melbourne Water's Water Literacy strategy into high-quality, engaging experiences for schools, communities and visitors.

This role sits at the centre of program operations and is responsible for the end to end coordination t of education programs, site tours, visitation experiences and events across multiple Melbourne Water sites and locations. It combines people leadership, program and event operations, logistics, stakeholder engagement, communications, budget management and customer experience improvement.

A key focus of the role is managing customer enquiries, program bookings, workforce scheduling and operational coordination to ensure programs are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

  • Manage and support staff delivery of education programs, tours and events.
  • Ensure the Melbourne Water legislated Statement of Obligation (part of the Water Act) and strategic objectives are met.
  • Develop, implement and maintain governance systems, processes and structures to enhance customer experience. ​– includes oversight and management of visitor
  • Plan and promote Melbourne Water’s Water visitation program and relevant events at agreed sites.​
  • Build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally, to enhance and identify key visitation opportunities which are aligned with Water Literacy priorities
  • Support the communications and marketing team in amplification of key marketing themes through leverage of partnerships, events and visitation strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate event initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with strategic goals

The role would suit someone with strong operational experience in large-scale events, education or community programs, who can lead people, manage complex logistics, influence stakeholders and turn strategy into practical, well-run educational experiences.

About you:

  • Loves bringing programs to life and thrives on coordinating people, logistics and customer experiences
  • Are highly organised, customer-focused and enjoy managing the moving parts behind successful program delivery
  • Prioritise and balance customer enquiries, bookings, workforce scheduling and operational priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality service and continuous improvement
  • A natural relationship builder, with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to establish trusted partnerships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management and operational planning skills, with experience managing budgets, contracts, procurement processes and complex logistical requirements.
  • A confident communicator with the ability to influence, negotiate and gain support from stakeholders while working collaboratively to achieve shared objectives.
  • Adaptable and solutions-focused, with strong digital literacy, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Experience in developing and delivering large events and education programs at scale and end to end management of programs from planning and coordination through to evaluation and reporting Have a background in education, events, community engagement, visitor experience communications, or public programs
