Who We Are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

  • Water mains, gravity pipelines, structures, roads, and bridges

  • Valves, pressure-reducing stations, instrumentation

  • Make decisions that minimize whole-of-life costs for assets and services.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, providing technical advice to Service Delivery (Operations and Maintenance) teams.
  • Offer guidance and support to team members as required.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline and general understanding of the water and sewerage system including treatment.
  • Active engineering registration in a related discipline (i.e. mechanical/electrical) relevant to the position is required.
  • Experience in the lifecycle management of water industry assets or equivalent industry/infrastructure including condition monitoring of assets.
  • Ability to critically explore and analyse solution options and evaluate consequences of different risk scenarios and implement appropriate cost-effective risk management techniques.
  • Proven history of working as a collaborative team member and working in a constructive culture to achieve customer centric outcomes
  • Experience with IT systems (Eg: MS Office, Maximo, GIS, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills together with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to prioritise and perform complex professional/technical work with general supervision and exercise professional/technical judgement
